GTKYB | Jourdan’s Summer Recap

This week, we have another fun post to help you Get to Know Your Bloggers (GTKYB)! If you are new to the blog, I am Jourdan. Along with Nohemi, we make up Pen to Papher, and we are so happy you have joined us!

As autumn approaches, and before we dive wholeheartedly into everything pumpkin spice, we wanted to give summer a proper sendoff. So, let us say goodbye to summer by recapping some of our favorite moments. And hopefully, you will get to know us a little better along the way!

Jourdan’s Summer

During the Summer of 2023, if I was not in the garden, I was out traveling! Here is a recap of the adventures that best capture how I spent my summer:

Adventure #1

My husband and I kicked off the summer with a glamping trip in the mountains. When I say glamping, picture a one-room cabin with cable TV. It was the kind of place where you do not get cell service - and to me, that is a good thing! We were brave enough to bring both our dog and cat along with us (hence the need for a cabin and not a tent). It truly set the tone for what a great summer we would have ahead of us.

Adventure #2

For the days I was actually at home, I made many trips to Home Depot and Lowe’s to buy plants for the garden and food for the birds. I am an avid (albeit rookie) birder. I am getting better at identifying birds by sight and my goal is to be able to recognize them by song. As for gardening, the biggest lesson I learned this year was: soil matters. I will leave it at that for now!

Adventure #3

Just when I thought there was no way I could travel one more mile, I found myself on another plane. This time, we were destined for Europe. We ended up visiting 4 different countries: Portugal, France, Spain, and Germany. I think this adventure is best told through photos, so feel free to scroll through the album below!

Bonus: Jourdan & Nohemi’s Summer Meetup

This summer, Nohemi and I went to a Darius Rucker (top left photo below) concert and to our happy place: Disney World! We went during the Flower & Garden Festival. Fun fact: I get henna every time I go to Animal Kingdom (bottom right photo below).
