Guided Gratitude: Intro

In the days leading to Thanksgiving, we will be providing a series of daily gratitude prompts to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, even where you least expect it.

Why are we doing this?

In 2 Timothy 3:1-5, Paul writes that a characteristic of end times is that people will be ungrateful. That's pretty powerful! On the other hand, thankfulness brings us closer to God by reframing our thinking and bringing our focus back to Him.

Since there's no better time to practice thankfulness than this time of year, we were inspired to create a unique "Guided Gratitude" series leading up to Thanksgiving Day.

Here's what to expect:

With traditional gratitude journaling, we often choose to be grateful for the things that are going well in our life. Which is completely logical and natural. But what if we also practiced having gratitude for the things that aren't necessarily going well in our life? Not so easy, right?

Instead of telling us what you're grateful for, we have pre-selected five categories for you, and we challenge you to find gratitude in each of them.

Every day leading up to Thanksgiving, we will reveal a category. First, we want you to identify whether it's something that has been going well for you or something that you have been struggling with. The key here is awareness! Some of us are so focused on the negatives, that we don't see what's actually going well in our lives. Others of us are so busy going through the motions that we don't take the time to sit and look at what might need our attention.

Depending on how you answer, we'll give you questions to think about as you practice gratitude for that category. To help, we'll also share relevant scriptures to provide a Biblical perspective and a prayer to meditate on throughout the day.
