What’s in a name?

It is officially 2024 and we are kicking the new year off with something exciting! As we approach our first “blog-versary” next month, we have been thinking about how we want to refer to our Pen to Papher community. We believe that nomenclature matters. The typical terminology of “subscriber” and “follower” just do not seem fitting for our mission. Our goal is not to deliver a one-way stream of information, but rather to spark conversation and foster relationship through our content.

We asked ourselves, what do you call someone who you write to, but you may not have necessarily met or live near? A pen pal! The best part is, it stays true to our name, while also remaining Biblical. Did you know that 21 out of the 27 books of the New Testament are letters written to a person or group of people? These 21 letters are referred to as the epistles. Basically, the majority of the New Testament was written by pen pals!

Pen Pal (noun): someone who you exchange letters with as a hobby, but usually have not met.

So the question is, will you be our pen pal?! We have now enabled comments on all of our blog posts (including ones previously posted). Feel free to introduce yourself or anonymously share your thoughts and feelings on the topic being discussed. We hope this will help us grow closer in our community of pen pals. If you have social media, you can also join the conversation on Instagram, where you get the added bonus of having a glimpse into our day-to-day lives.

We cannot wait to get to know you better! 😊
