Guided Gratitude: This Phase of Life

Welcome to Day 4 of our Guided Gratitude series leading up to Thanksgiving Day!

How many times have we caught ourselves saying - “I wish I was in the (happy, successful, wise) phase of my life.” Or when you look back at your life you noticed how quickly you skipped certain phases (good or bad) of life.

With Day 4 of our guided gratitude series today we are being grateful for this Phase of Life. It’s a moment to just reflect on the now and to count our blessings and really enjoy the growth that we have had and the plans that God has for our future.

Daily Gratitude Prompt

Start by saying "Today, I am grateful for this phase of life.” This might be easy for some of you and hard for others. Which group can you relate to? Do you look at your current phase of life as a good thing or a struggle?

  • If your answer is a good thing:

Be present in every moment and enjoy it! If the next phase is more difficult or not what you had hoped for, do not be discouraged; remember this time and be comforted by the fact that you can get here again.

  • If your answer is a struggle:

Know that your purpose is bigger than your circumstances. How is this phase of life challenging you? Is it making you more resilient? By definition, phases always change - so do not be consumed by worry - this means your phase of life will eventually change too!

Daily Gratitude Scripture

Verse 1: Philippians 3:13-14 NIV

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Verse 2: Luke 12:25

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to life?

Gratitude in Practice: Meditate on these scriptures today. Dive deeper by researching the original translation or re-writing them over and over (this is called “scripture writing”).

Daily Gratitude Prayer

Lord, hear my prayer.

Thank you for always being enough. Help me to continue to count my blessings and to draw near when moments in life get tough, to remember to praise you no matter where I am in life. If I have you, I have everything, but without you I have nothing.

Amen
